Marina of the year results…

What a week that was.

I must admit we were all feeling a little bit down and out last week when the winner and runner up of The Yacht Harbour Association’s Inland Marina of the Year were announced at the Southampton Boat Show and White Mills did not get a mention.

But on Monday our chests all became puffed out (see video below which captures how we all felt) as we heard from the organisers, that although we did not make it into the top two positions, we had in fact come a very respectable third, which is totally and utterly amazing. Naturally, we are now feeling pretty good indeed.

And because both the winning marina (Shepperton) and runner up marina (Overwater) are so much bigger than White Mills, it means even more to us to be among the big guys.

Commenting on the success of snapping up third position Manager of White Mills George Wickham said, :”We are all absolutely chuffed, it really is a great accolade for a smaller marina on the River Nene to achieve such recognition and shows our consistency and hard work to provide a high standard marina for our moorers and customers.”

These ducks waddling along looking very pleased and important are bit like us this week!

One of the reasons we are incredibly proud of Shepperton Marina and Overwater Marina scooping the top slots is because they are both members of the unique and newly established Cruise Moor scheme which consists of nine handpicked family run marinas including White Mills working together to provide free visitor moorings to boaters who have committed to a permanent annual mooring at one of the participating marinas.

Now thanks to these latest awards, visitors can feel even more confident knowing that the quality of marinas participating in Cruise Moor is second to none.

However, in the meantime we at White Mills are going to spend a little time basking in our success. Woo hoo!

P.S. Thanks to Nationwide Boats for the little video it is exactly how we are all feeling.
