What a great Summer
Well we could not have asked for more perfect weather for the Summer - it might have been overly hot on three or four occasions, but overall it could not have been more perfect., and it has been terrific to see everyone enjoying the great out doors, by foot, by bike, by boat, and of course by motor home.
Our little camp site has been really busy with everyone loving our brand new facilities/shower block, it has been wonderful welcoming back our regulars as well as meeting new people from far and wide including France, Holland and Germany . The garden and stretch tent have been very well used, and our little horse box Number 9 has been a much welcomed addition yet again especially on our live music afternoons when some cheeky Aperol Spritz have been spied being served!
On the Cruise Moor front, despite some closures on the waterways network, there has been an increased amount of movement, and we have welcomed several boaters taking advantage of their free one week. stay which is nice to see. Afterall the entire scheme was created to try and encourage more boaters to get out and about and actually use the network. The criteria for being part of the Cruise Moor scheme which enables boaters to have one free weeks mooring at any one of our participating marinas is that you need to commit to an annual mooring at one of the marinas. Those participating include Aqueduct, Droitwich Spa, Lechlade, Overwater, Foxs Narrowboats, Dunchurch Pools, Fenny Marina, White mills Marina, Shepperton
Our new team in the marina office is now established , which is wonderful news. Sara has settled into her new role as Marina manager brilliantly and has created a very happy team with Emma and Karen. The office has had a bit of a change round too and looks far more spacious and organised, so as we head into Autumn and Winter the team will be completely au fait with how everything functions and will be providing the type of customer service that everyone expects from our family run marina.
In the boathouse after a unsettled start to the year, mainly due to the closure of White Mills bridge for six whole months, we are now completely back on track,. We have a new team who have had to fly by the seat of their pants to a certain extent after being dropped in the deep end at our busiest time of year. And they have done it - so congratulations to the boathouse crew who as ever are looking forward to greeting you.
So all in all, we head into the Winter months in great shape……. Looking ahead we have our annual Macmillan Coffee morning coming up on Friday 25th September in the stretch tent. We will of course once again have an array of stalls as well as a great selection of cakes. Remember all the cake sales on the day whether from the tent or upstairs in the boathouse go towards this terrific cause.
There will be quizzes for our boaters as well as other social events to look forward to and needless to say an array of specials making an appearance in the boathouse.
Oh yes! And if you are looking for a winter mooring, then do not hesitate to call the office now on 01604 812057 and they will be delighted to help.
